Biografia

Mario Calivà is an Arbëresh writer and playwright. He graduated in Dramaturgy and Screenplay at the National Academy of Dramatic Art Silvio d'Amico in Rome. Already a doctor in Economics and Finance, he also obtained a Master's Degree in Performing Arts with a thesis on the Arbëresh Theater as a vector of identity communication. Since 2012 he has been staging his theatrical works in the Arbëresh language. He has published several collections of poems including: Perceptions, The light of distant points, and Beyond the oblivion of the voice. In 2017 he published the book Portella della ginestra May 1st 1947, sixteen survivors tell of the massacre (Navarre). In 2019 in Pristina (Kosovo) for the Kosovar publishing house OM comes Rrëmbyesi dhe Ara, a drama and a monologue in Albanian. In December 2020 the Ara monologue was performed at the National Theater of Kosovo. In 2020 for the Besa publishing house the Racial Laws and October 1943 and the monologue-story in Arbëreshe Nostalgjia were released, presented in Berlin, Paris, Geneva. In 2020 he was invited to the International Book and Culture Fair in Luxembourg. In February 2021 his poetry collection Poezi Arbëreshe was released. In March of the same year, through a project financed by the Kosovo Ministry of Culture, the play Deti me ngyrë portokalli (The Orange Sea) was published in Pristina by the publishing house OM. He worked in the Roman editorial office of Rai Cultura and was an intern at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
